Forest Bathing Salts

Made with mixture of conifer needles and herbs that I just crave as the colder, darker days settle into my bones and spirit. Even after heavy snowfall, when the land looks bleak and gray, the conifer trees stand tall and green. Their canopies tower into the sky while their roots dive deeply into the earth. They offer us a sense of grounding, belonging.

For many thousands of years, people have been using conifers – pine, fir, spruce, juniper, hemlock and other cone-bearing trees and shrubs – as food and medicine. They’ve been known to improve respiratory function, boost the immune system, balance hormones, promote circulation and cardiovascular health, protect from influenza viruses, and SO much more.

Even breathing in their scent is medicine! Seriously. Taking a whiff of freshly cut or crushed conifers has been proven to reduce cortisol levels and stress responses, calm the nervous system and provide a sense of safety and well-being.

Wyldflower Bath Salts

We tend to think of flowery baths as spa material. Well friends, there is literally a spa bath waiting out there. And you can bring it home. This one is especially nice in spring and summer, but do not hesitate to dry out bouquets of flowers (just hang upside down until totally dry, and then store in a glass jar) to be used throughout the winter months. Such. A. Treat.

You can use flowers found from your own garden, or go foraging! How about wild violets, meadowsweet or jasmine? Roses, chamomile and marigold? Dandelions? There are so many options.

And each flower comes with its own unique benefits. You can read about dandelion flowers in our post, Ode to the Dandelion. Or check Our Ingredients to learn about flowers such as chamomile, lavender and calendula.

If you try these or any other wyld bath salt blends, let me know what you think in the comments below!

Thanks for stopping by the studio! Stay Wyld out there.
